Head professional Stuart Levermore, shown in the centre of the photograph,  joined the club in January 1980 after 15 years at Hadley Wood Golf Club, Hertfordshire.  Another resident PGA professional is Michael Goodwin, shown on the right in the photograph,  who has been with the club since he left school.

Stuart and Michael give lessons by appointment on the club's ten acre practice ground.  Group teaching is also available.  Teaching embraces all standards and all ages - from beginner to tournament golfer.

Vouchers can also be purchased for lessons, either over the phone or in person, and are valid for one year from date of purchase.

Stuart's son Jason , shown standing on the left of the photograph, started playing golf as a junior member at Clacton on Sea and is a former club champion and former junior county captain, and currently plays his golf on the Euro-Pro Tour.

Stuart has been responsible for introducing and overseeing many improvements to the course, and for coaching many youngsters who eventually played for the club's Thornton Cup and Leslie Wood teams.

The professional's shop moved to a new block built onto the clubhouse in 1992 (the club's centenary year) and overlooks the practice putting green and the first tee.

The shop has a wide range of clubs, bags, clothing, shoes and other accessories.  Stuart also offers a free advisory service on club selection by encouraging members and visitors to try different makes and models on the practice ground before buying.  Another service offered is the skilled repair and renovation of clubs.

All green fees must be paid at the shop, which is open seven days a week, from 8.30am to 6.30pm or dusk, whichever is the earlier.  Members of the public are also welcome to visit the shop.
