The ladies played for the Linkwood Cup on Tuesday. Kath Sinnott was the winner with a great score of 102-39=63. Second was Liz Strutt with 91-21=70 and in third place Di Kedge 107-35=72.
Unfortunately Jackie Hart lost her Bronze County Knockout Match 2&1 at Upminster after a close fought match.
The Bronze Shield team travelled to Five Lakes on Sunday and had a great team win of 3 -2. All the games were exciting and the Clacton Ladies battled hard. They have now played 5 matches in their league and currently have 4 wins and 1 loss with one match left to play against Chelmsford.
The second round of the Ladies Academia Matchplay was played on Monday at home. The opponents were Frinton Links and the games were all extremely close and played in good spirit against the neighbouring club. The Clacton ladies secured an impressive win of 4 ½ - ½ taking them through to the third round of the national competition.
The Seniors played their return match away against Harwich on Wednesday and despite a heavy shot deficit they won 4.5 to 3.5. Overall, an excellent result of 9 - 7 with the Clacton Seniors reclaiming the Cyril Rand Trophy which is played for by the 2 clubs. Seniors Captain Paul Tubbs thanked both the teams over the 2 matches.
On Monday the results for the Seniors June Medal were Gerry Sheriff winning with a net 67 playing off 23. Second was Graham Crabb with a net 68 playing off 26 just beating Rod Fowler on countback who plays off 19.
The Juniors played the Basil Morgan Trophy. Jonnie Down won with a score of 0 in the par competition. He beat Vince Chung on countback. Stanley Smart was in third place with -2. The Youth Shield Team A (Cooper Hayes, Charlie Heffer, Coco Locke, Max Heffer & Charlie Beasley) played at home against The Essex Team B. They had a fantastic 5-0 victory with excellent scores and outstanding play from all the team players.
The men had a busy weekend with matches being played in three of the Essex County competitions. The Thornton Cup team travelled to Rochford Hundred to play against one of the top sides in the knockout. After the morning pairs the team were 3 ½ - 1 ½ down but went out in the afternoon to play the singles matches and ended up losing, but the result was a very close 8-7
The Norman Plum team played Maylands in Round 3 and despite the beautiful weather lost the match 5 ½ - ½.
The Jubilee Cup team were victorious against top of the table Manor of Groves. After a very close result from the singles matches, the pairs won 3-0 securing an overall 6-3 victory for the team.
