Our Thornton Cup Team- Through to the Semi-Finals

A massive congratulations to our Thornton Challenge Cup Team, who are now through to the Semi-Finals. Our Team will be playing Romford on Sunday 10th August, and the venue will be Orsett Golf Club. The team would love the support of their fellow Golf Club Members, so it would be great if some of you can go and cheer them along. We will publish more details as we get them.

Clacton on Sea Golf Club

Clacton Men
On Sunday July 20th, Clacton’s elite golfers played for the coveted Seve Trophy. In varying weather conditions, John Moore edged Ben Usedon on countback to win, both golfers returning nett 69’s. Equally close for third place between Craig James who on countback took the place from Karl Fenton both came in with net level 71’s.

Clacton Ladies
On Tuesday July 15th Lady Captain Jackie Bright held her Lady Captains Day. A large field saw 50 ladies play for on the day. A very close finish saw Maxine Trill edge out Emma Brown on countback with both ladies scoring 42 points. Julia Rockell claimed third spot with 39 points.

On Sunday July 20th, in atrocious weather, Clacton Ladies played the last of their Harris Bowl matches. The final match was a home win for Clacton, beating West Essex 3.5 – 1.5

Clacton Seniors
On Monday July 21st, Clacton Seniors played an inter-club match V Benton Hall. Home advantage and some great performances saw the Clacton team winning 6-2.
The Seniors also played in the Essex Seniors ten team championship at Braintree. Clacton the 2024 winners of this competition, made the relatively short trip to Braintree in high hopes. The weather and key players missing did not help and sadly, we were unable to repeat last years success. Winners this year were Stoke by Nayland with Colchester as runners up.

Clacton Juniors
On Saturday July 19th, Clacton Juniors played for the Peter George Trophy. Cooper Hayes claimed first place with 38 points. In second place was CoCo Locke with 37 points and Milo Locke was third with 36 points. Well done to all who entered the competition.
Club News

On Thursday 17th July, the Club held the annual Cripps Trophy, a mixed Greensomes Stableford competition. This year’s winners were Louise Gaskin and Steve Bland who received their trophies from Ladies Captain Jackie Bright and Seniors Captain Geoff Haslam.
